April is recognized the world over as CSA Awareness month. A group of us have worked together to take up the cause in India. In the second year, we’d like to reach out to even more people. And WebTv.in joins the core group to help effective messaging through video.
In a world fraught with dangerous situations for all children, raise your voice to stop child sexual abuse.
Urge parents to be more vigilant. Urge your kid and their friends to communicate. Urge families to look after each other. Urge schools to be more careful.
One in two children in India have faced some form of Child Sexual Abuse. This appaling statistic is reason enough to dialogue on abuse, examine our attitudes towards sex and educate and arm ourselves on the far reaching effects that CSA has on a child and adults.
At WebTv.in, we chose to take a direct approach to the video content we produced. Interviews with survivors, a psychologist, a lawyer, parents, actors and dance and art therapists.
The goal was to build Indian resources that would have an instant connect with the viewing audience.
While April is marked as CSA Awareness month, we hope to be able to add to these resources through out the year. On our search for participants we met two sorts – One, that wanted to whole heartedly engage because of a connect to the topic. Either they were survivors, or parents, or knew someone who had suffered abuse, or showed empathy towards children and their safety. The others were people who felt uncomfortable talking about the issue.
We urge you to align with the former group. To speak with your children. Or be there for other children you may know who might reach out to you for support. Help an adult deal with abuse that may have occurred when young.
Keep children safe.
Here is the entire playlist of resources we put together.
